Diverse Background

Born in Eastern Europe, having lived in New Jersey, raised in Toronto studied in Australia, David Vago has gained an international perspective that allows him to relate to various people and cultures. Having had a previous career in Information Technology as a Solutions Specialist at IBM Canada, David Vago brings a diverse background and the solutions-oriented mindset into his law practice.

In 2011, David decided to pursue his passion for the law and completed his Juris Doctor law degree at Bond University in the Gold Coast of Australia with second class Honours. During his time in law school, David participated in mooting and negotiations competitions and was runner-up at 2012 CLSA Cup Moot Competition. David also utilized his technological skillset from IBM and was the Information Technology Management Officer for the Bond Business Students' Association.

Multi-faceted Experience

David articled both as in-house at Sym-Tech Dealer Services, where he focused on contract, employment and trademark law and then at Donnell Law Group, where he learned criminal law and various general practice areas including civil litigation and estate matters. David was called to the bar in January 2015 and started practicing as a solo practitioner.

David's international and diverse background along with his multi-faceted experience has given him the confidence to be able to leverage his experience in a variety of legal issues. David thrives in situations when there are challenging circumstances. In 2017, David founded Vago Law Professional Corporation and has grown the law firm through hundreds of satisfied clients.

David has appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice, Superior Court of Justice, Immigration Board of Canada, Federal Court of Canada.
He has appeared in various jurisdictions throughout Ontario including Toronto, Belleville, Brockville, Bradford, Brantford, Barrie, Brampton, Cobourg, Guelph, Hamilton, Kitchener, Lindsay, London, Milton, Niagara Falls, Newmarket, Oshawa, Orangeville and St. Catharines. He has advocated for clients in quasi-judicial settings including at Maplehurst Correction Centre and the Rexdale Detention Centre.

Successful track record

David has a track record in getting exceptional results for clients. Some highlights include:

• Built an "exceptional circumstance" by making a case for a novel addiction to online gaming in a drug trafficking matter, where the client was able to avoid any custodial sentence.
• Won a Federal Court appeal by submitting before the Court that the Immigration and Refugee Board failed to consider relevant evidence.

David has a variety of interests in history, artifical intelligence, psychology, politics and sports. Outside of his legal practice, David enjoys biking, travelling and spending time with his family.
